    IS ANA READY?

To say that ANA is under a lot presure to perform during this upcoming convention is an understatement. A.N.A may say 'well,if we don't do it right this time, we can fix it next time'. Sorry, No GO. If ANA doesn't perform this time, it may not have the opportunity to fix it next time because there may not be a next time.

A.N.A's strenght and purse is derived from the local unions which support it. The only way these unions are going to remain supportive of A.N.A is if A.N.A has something to offer them. So A.N.A has to put a good showing and prove that investment made in A.N.A is an investment that yields dividend above and beyound the dividend these unions can realize by themselves. The whole Idea, behind the creation of A.N.A is that we can achieve more collectively as opposed to minimal efforts by respective unions.
To put it mildly, ANA MUST PERFORM for these autonomous unions to maintain their support for ANA.

So there is no margin of error for A.N.A. 'The proof of the puding is in the eating'.
For A.N.A to claim any kind of success in Atlanta, it must bring in enough money to support a visible project in Asaba. And it must use that money to support that project immediately.

    Anything less is unacceptable.

IS ASABA UNION IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA IN OR OUT.

When ANA inc was formed in Houston, Asaba union in Southern California was fully represented. Asaba union in southern California has full representation in the board of Directors and Executive committee of ANA.

The Asaba Union in Southern california had representive(s) in all the initial teleconferences during the planning of this National convention. Their representatives voted during all important issues including the the issue of each union contributing the sum of $2000.00 towards this all important National Conference/convention.

And then; inexplicably, they stopped. No more teleconferencing, no more communications. Nothing. Nobody knows why but as at this writing, Asaba union - Southern California is the only Asaba union that hasn't made its $2000.00 contribution.

There are perhaps more Asaba indegenes in Southern california than any other metropolitan area of the united states. It is puzzling to think that in a conference of this magnitude, they are the only established union that will not have representation. The conference will determine among other things the project that A.N.A will engage in.
Members of the southern california Branch will not be allowed into the conference Hall. Unless of course they get there act together and make their financial contribution before then. Or their members can individually register as at-large members and pay $100.00 each.

After all attempts to get them on board seemed to have failed, word came last week that their $2000.00 contribution was finally on its way. That was last week. It hasn't arrived yet.

I think it is fair to say that the Asaba National Conference will take place as scheduled with or without Asaba union, Southern california.

WHAT IS THE CURRENT STATUS OF EVENTS LEADING TO THE CONVENTION

    T- SHIRTS

Each local unions have sold at least 35 T-shirts as at this writing. T-shirts are sold at $10.00 a shirt. The remainder of the T-shirts will be sold at the convention.

    ALMANAC
As at the time of this writing A.N.A has 44 entries for its 1999 Almanac. At $150.00 a space, that is good. The Almanac should be ready for viewing at the end of coming week. The sale will begin as soon as it is printed.

    BROCHURE

The brochure will be going to press at the beginning of the coming week. At the time of this writing, there is no tally for the total ads as they are still coming in. However, the response have been pleasantly brisk.
Unlike the calender, which is closed for time constraint, space for brochure is unlimited and therefore open until printing.
Spaces are at $100 per page, $50.00 per half page and $25.00 per quarter page.

It is never a good Idea to give credit until the job is completely done. But so far so good for A.N.A. The biggest test however is still around the corner.
